Model-naming and ID-codes

Guideline

  • Main name:
    • No parents: specification of the group-name with an adjective, ex. Hovering vehicle (from the group of ‘vehicles’)
    • One parent ( so a copy plus change): extra adjective or noun to indicate the change, ex. TV becomes a Flat-screen TV (backward formation would give a ray-tube-TV for the old one)
    • Multiple parents: a word from each parent would seem logical.(ex. a TV with an integrated dvd-player, could be named: dvd-TV)
  • Alias name, ex. Glider for the hovering vehicle. An alias can be used in further derivations.
  • Author-date-code: 6-letter author-code plus initial authoring-date; jacjon20080514 (Jack Jones designed the model; first 3 letters of first and second name is a good rule of thumb).
  • Version-number; ex. 1.0, 1.6, 2.0
    • After each edit (or couple of edits) a version-number countup.
    • The change-log describes the edits which lead to a new version.
